Zoltan Laboratories LLC (ZL) is developing a protein drug to prevent and treat obesity and associated diseases including insulin resistance, diabetes, and lipid disorders. The drug is also suitable to reduce tumor growth in combination with anticancer drugs as well as prevent or reduce weight loss and bone marrow damage caused by the growing tumor and cancer therapies. The major effects underlying these mostly protective effects of the drug include prevention of death of important cell types including bone marrow stem cells, islet beta cells, muscle cells, and fat cells.
